Brush pile (was Burn pile)
by El Vid
Winter storm blow-down and yard trimmings. The 2011 pile was seeded with defunct correspondence belonging to a friend. The 2012 pile was crowned with part of a headdress belonging to S.L.U.G. Queen Marigold, who decided to forgo the pageant one year and attend Burning Man instead, asking that this item be burned at the pageant (which wasn't possible), so here it is.
The 2012 pile was much larger, so after I lit it, I didn't start shooting it until I felt safe that it wasn't going to set the whole neighborhood aflame.
In 2013, we didn't burn, so the pile grew over the winter. The last burn was in July, 2014, and was frighteningly large, withering leaves on nearby trees. After that, the piles grew past the point where I felt we could safely burn them; after the storm damage of December 2016, we had the accumulated debris hauled away unburned.
