The fast train locomotive 01 524 developed from the

model 01 208, which was built in 1937 by Krupp in

Essen/Germany. Between November 1961 and April

1965, 35 of these locomotives were equipped with

new boilers. On this occasion most oft the engines

were converted to oilfired operation.
