AW Freighter
Armstrong Whitworth AW-650 Argosy 101 pure freighter G BEOZ on display at the East Midlands Aero Park Castle Donnington. Assembled and first flown from Bitteswell Leicestershire in 1960 and first delivered to US Riddle Airlines in Jan 1961 as N6502R. Subsequent US operaters of this freighter being Logair, Zantop & Universal Airlines. To Air Bridge Cargo UK in 1977 as G BEOZ, withdrawn from service in 1987 and arrived at the Air Park in the same year, displayed in the colours of Elan Air but operated by Air Bridge Cargo.
All Argosies were built in component form at Baginton Coventry and roaded to Bitteswell for assembly and flight testing before delivery, including the 56 military C.1s for the Royal Air Force, final production of the type was 74 in total.
