Historic Tower
The Control Tower at Ford Island Pearl Harbour Hawaii, photographed in Dec 1999, at the time in derelict condition as it had been for some time. The Tower was only 80% complete at the time of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbour, although strafed it survived and was completed five months later after the raid. The colours as seen were applied in the early 1960s and not the original. Since 2007 the Pearl Harbour Aviation Museum has opened in the vicinity located in two original surviving hangars 37 & 79. The Tower itself after restoration which commenced in 2011 was opened to the public for the first time in 2022.
