She's Running a Little Hot

Nobody likes a cloudy day, but obviously they do happen. I'm of the opinion that when the weather sucks and you've nothing to lose, try shooting a location that you normally can't. This is MP 6 on the Providence and Worcester's Gardner Branch in Holden MA, and it never really sees good sunlight, as its almost due north-facing in a corridor of trees, so the sun's in your face all morning and the tracks are in shadows all afternoon. Upon hearing that Sunday's Gardner job had just pulled out of Worcester, I reached for the camera and car keys. It's about a ten minute drive from home over here, so really nothing ventured, nothing gained for minimal effort. When the train pulled into view, I could see the turbo of trailing engine B39 #3905 was having a bad time on the steady uphill grade, issues that continued as they passed the mile marker. Honestly, it's a pretty cool thing to see in person.
