Marbled Duck (Marmaronetta angustirostris)

Marbled Duck in flight - Wild.

This was a very quick shot as it flew past, but a first for me!!

These ducks are rare in the wild and are local to S. Spain, Morocco and Turkey. They can also be found in Iran. There were a few pairs introduced to the area of Spain where we were staying. They are also known as Marbled Teal.

The marbled duck is a pale, mottled grey-brown bird with a distinctive dark mask running into a slight tuft on the nape.

Most marbled ducks found in NW Europe are suspected to be escaped from collections.

Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fav my images.
