Magellanic Plover (Pluvianellus socialis) - El Calafate, AR

These birds are really unique shorebirds. They produce milk in their crops like doves do to feed their young. They are only found in Argentina and Chile. They twirl around and kick up their feet to forage for food it is quite funny to watch. They are in decline and there are estimated to be less than a 1000 left in the wild. They are in their own family, Pluvianellidae.
