Record shot of Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) - Monroe, WA
Was happy to see this beautiful lifer Whooper Swan. They are huge and I could pick up the yellow bill from a great distance even before I put my scope on it. It is the second record of a wild vagrant for WA. It is an ABA Code 4 rarity. This bird was found by Rex Guichard. The bird was not close to me so this is a heavy crop. I was happy Canada finally scraped the expensive PCR test for triple vaxxed folks and even happier I filled my tank with gas at 1.45 CAD a litre down there now that gas prices are 2.10$ CAD a litre in BC!. A second cycle GLGU in Kenmore was also a nice treat to see before coming north home.
*the white bit on its bill is feather down post preening*
