Northern Pygmy-Owl (Glaucidium californicum gnoma) - Green Valley, AZ

I saw a family of Pygmy Owls in Madera Canyon. The adults were feeding tiny babies. The adults are tiny enough so the babies were minute! Definitely a special moment with these tiny owls!

 

This is the mountain subspecies of Pygmy-Owl which some authorities consider to be a distinct species. Their calls are surely different!
