Pisaura mirabilis

Spent a little while trying to get close to this hunting spider as it kept hiding under it's leaf whenever I approached. This is a stack of four images taken with my reverse 50mm pentax lens at f8. I'm learning that although this technique is tricky, I can get far better pixel sharpness this way at wider apertures (due to less diffraction), but naturally with less depth of field than how I have typically been shooting for single frames at f14+. An added benefit is that I get a much brighter image through the viewfinder to achieve focus, as reverse lens shooting can get pretty dark due to looking through the lens at the closed down shooting aperture. Beautiful spider too, which of course is the main reason I crawl around taking these photos!
