American Bittern

On a practice trip to test out a 500mm lens before I traveled to Deming, WA, I traveled to Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. I saw a lot of birds including this Bittern who was happily hunting along one of the streams on the side of the road. While I was watching him he caught 2 salamanders.
