Pigeon Guillemot

Day 2 of 3 at Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast. Haystack rock is nesting grounds for hundreds of birds such as Pigeon Guillemots, Brandt's Cormorants, Pelagic Cormorants, Tufted Puffins, Common Murres, and a pair of Black Oystercatchers. Also the second day testing out my new Canon 5D mark III. I am very impressed the quality is amazing and was a huge step up from my old Rebel series Canon.

After two hours of feeding their chicks, who are almost ready to fledge, this Guillemot rested on a rock about 20 yards away from me. My initial target was to get this bird in flight, but when the sun was hidden behind clouds during the low tide and main feeding part of the day, I had to go for something else.
