Flying Bardotka

On June 21st a large event was held in Hrusovany nad Jeviskovu in southern Moravia in Czech Republic to bid farewell to the semaphore signals there. (only in CZ!) A number of special trains operated around the station, including photo freights! For those who bought a photo pass, timetables were also provided for the transfer moves to Hrusovany. On the evening of the 20th the 751 207 was planned to bring the freight train consist along with a motorcar set tacked on the rear from Brno to Hrusovany. Armed with the timetable I headed to Moravské Bránice where the light should be good for the planned time. The planned time came and went, but without the train. Thanks to the very helpful station master, I learned that the train would be about an hour and a half late. This meant that it should be photographable on the towering Ivančic viaduct. The delay was a blessing in disguise and I along with only one other photographer could capture the attractive Bardotka soaring over the Jihlava river. The bridge was built in 1978, replacing an even more spindly looking bridge from 1868. A short bit of the original bridge can be seen in the background and is preserved as a monument.
