Purple vortex

The aurora borealis is a beautiful sight on Icelandic nights, provided that the sky is clear and the sun is willing to send us a few particles that will colour the sky by ionising the upper layers of the atmosphere. This was the case in Akureyri. The moon is not always a welcome sight, but it doesn't stop the show.
