Upper part of the door of Florence Baptistery
The door, named "Porta del Paradiso" by Michelangelo, faces the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. It was made by Lorenzo Ghiberti between 1425 and 1452, with an important collaboration of his son Vittore. The door is subdivided into ten large squares, arranged in five rows, each of which, with frames adorned with rosettes with prophet heads, occupies the entire width of a door leaf. The panels show scenes from the Old Testament.
