Jokulsarlon Glacier
I'm still rubbing my eyes 10 days later at this place. If you go to Iceland, Jokulsarlon Glacier and Diamond Beach are going to make your eyes pop. Huge chunks of ice gradually break free from the glacier and make their way across the lagoon and into the channel that takes them under the bridge and out to sea, where they promptly get washed back onto the beach - more of that in another post.
In this image we were lurking under the single span bridge, large vehicles rumbling overhead and shaking pieces of debris onto our heads. We were waiting to see which lump of ice would break free next, and whether it would play billiards with any of its counterparts in the race down to the sea. Just an awe inspiring sight and one I'm looking forward to seeing as soon as possible again, once the Icelandic budget allows!
