Final Portfolio

Artist Statement:

My Digital Imaging story should be told through the fruits of my work, if such a word is applicable to these apparent abominations. There was no singular most challenging artwork throughout the year - rather, any and all hand-written/drawn projects were the source of most of my frustration as my finer motor skills are poor. The Illustrator period and the drawing periods of the year were, obviously, not my most favorite. The haphazard looking conglomeration involving Einstein shows the first instance of learning - in that case, how to use layer masks. My favorite artwork of the year was the first semester final (I think?) where we had to interview our community. I didn't know Alex feared being forgotten. It was deep, insightful, a comment beyond both his age and apparent cheeriness.

Reasons each image is included:
_Einstein thing: Demonstrates learning to use layer masks (crudely)
_Fractal curve rainbow thing: This one was hard. I had to learn that mathematically generated fractals are a) really hard to understand b) nigh impossible to create and c) impossible in photoshop. It took a lot of puttering around to figure out how to get halfway to what I wanted.
_Edugif: I find the concept of fixing everything by turning it off then turning it on again amusing and practical Making it a gif was slightly annoying because it involved drawing.
_Chrysanthemum: Messing around with filters, ended up looking alright.
_Hand-lettered quote: Fun to mess around with calligraphy pens, and then touch up in post-production.
_Community Interview - Alex: See artist statement.
