Moonlit Bodiam Castle

While Bodiam Castle is a spectacular sight in broad daylight, visiting the grounds after sunset had definitely an eerie touch to it. I checked with the people of the National Trust while we visited during daytime if it was OK if we roamed the grounds after closing hours (there is a public footpath running through the grounds). Luckily it was OK (maybe being a NT member helped ;-) )

On our way back to the car we stopped once more at the south eastern corner of the moat, to find the castle beautifully lit by nothing but the moonlight. You even can clearly see a shadow of the tree above the camera at the foot of the foremost tower. Looking in a north westerly direction you can clearly see the orange tinge in the sky produced (probably) by the whole London area, the city center being only 70 km (43 miles) away. The silvery moonlight in combination with twilight blue sky and orange city glow made for a very interesting sight.
