Airbus A330-941N A330NEO First Prototype F-WTTN Airbus Industrie (MSN 1795, Maiden Flight) | Toulouse Blagnac TLS/LFBO
Maiden flight of the first Airbus A330neo Prototype (F-WTTN, MSN 1795). Seen here is the first low approach before landing at the end of a successful 4 hour first test flight. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 high-bypass turbofan engines with a bypass ratio of 10 (compared to 5 on the Trent 700). Besides the new engines, the wing features numerous improvements, most visible being the blended sharklets extending the wingspan by 3.7m.
The small orange parachute at the end of a long cable is a static pressure port towed by the aircraft from the fin. This port, sampling relatively undisturbed air, is used to calibrate the static pressure sensors of the aircraft. It is a standard fit on all civilian prototypes.
