English: Chapel of St. Nicholas, Lantern Hill St.Nicholas's chapel in Ilfracombe is perched dramatically atop steep little Lantern Hill, a major feature of the entrance to Ilfracombe Harbour. This little building is said to be the oldest extant in Ilfracombe, dating originally from the C13th. By 1522 it was acting as a lighthouse, and according to this unique lighthouse. it still carries a lantern, established in 1650, which currently emits a green flash every 2½ seconds.
