13 and at camp
I received this #AveryElle set Happy Camper as an RAK from a friend. I knew immediately this was going to become a card for our 13-year-old nephew at sleepaway camp. I practiced a new (to me) watercolor technique -- I stated with a rectangular piece of watercolor paper and placed it on my desk with the short side to the top. Then with a very wet brush I dropped a lot of Distress inks in a row all the way across the top edge, so that it was very wet. Then I held the watercolor paper up, and spritzed the entire piece with water so that the distress ink started to move down in streams. After it dried, I turned it 90 degrees and trimmed it into a square, and it became the perfect background for this card.
The mountains are stamped in Versafine Onyx, and the trees and lake are in the same distress inks. There's some Wink of Stella on the tops of the mountains to look like glittery ice.
I trimmed the canoe out of a piece of the watercolor paper that I wasn't using and popped it up on foam tape. The happy hedgehog is in PTI's Dark Chocolate. Sentiment from PTI's Be set which is so perfect for teens, and stamped in PTI Tropical Teal, which is just a shade darker than the watercolored panel. The panel is mounted on PTI's Tropical Teal cardstock and the whole thing is adhered to PTI Kraft.
I absolutely love the way this came out and I can see this set getting a ton of use!
