Train in the landscape: Intercity Express Train (IET) at Bath Spa
One of Great Western Railway's Intercity Express Trains (IETs) is seen leaving Bath Spa on 5th February 2019 with the 1A20 1400 Bristol Temple Meads-London Paddington service. The photograph is taken from Alexandra Park - just to the south of the city centre, which offers commanding views of the city and surrounding area.
A work trip had taken me to Bath and there was time to squeeze in a quick visit with the camera. Over many years I've admired photographs taken from this vantage point (or ones close by in the park). Not the best day weather-wise to have a go myself, but the view from here looking down on the railway line as it sweeps through the valley is quite amazing. Sounds travel too, and it was possible to hear the whistles of the dispatch staff in the station below.
