Birds do not have sweat glands, so they use different mechanisms to be able to thermoregulate. This heron specimen uses gasping to open the beak and rapidly agitates the gular area. This is an effective mechanism to dissipate heat but it is a little known mechanism.

 

Las aves no tienen glándulas sudoríparas, por lo que usan diversos mecanismos para poder termoregularse. Este ejemplar de garza real utiliza el jadeo abriendo el pico y agitando rápidamente la zona gular. Esto es un mecanismo eficaz para disipar el calor pero es un mecanismo poco conocido.
