Senhora do Salto
The early volcanic succession is overlain by platform deposits, namely conglomerates
and massive quartzites followed by interbedded fine grained and coarse grained clastic sediments. Quartzites show organic structures (ichnofacies of Cruziana and Skolithos), diverse sedimentary structures (graded bedding, ripple marks, crossbedding, slumps, load casts, flame structures) and represent deposition of coastal
sediments in a near shore environment. Black layers comprising oolitic ironstones
and bearing prints of volcanic origin are interbedded in a succession of quartzites,
wackes and slates.
