British Rail diesel loco 09009 London Waterloo (#98)

Darlington Works built this shunter as D3720. It was new to Hither Green in April 1959. In 1971 it was converted to air brakes only and was renumbered to 09009 on 1 January 1973. Was there ever a design more likely to trap dust and dirt? The loco is seen in the loco dock at London Waterloo on 4 October 1975. It still exists (in ealy 2021), with GB Railfreight, in a green livery and working at Miles Platting stone terminal.
