MÁV-START Bzmot 117 340 and steam Balassagyarmat
Plinthed steam engine 377.092 and the stock for the 14.12 back to the main line at Aszód (a journey of around 90 mins) at Balassagyarmat, near the Slovak border in northern Hungary. The class of loco was built by many manufacturers between 1885 and 1924, but this example carries a plate stating the builder to be Magyar Királyi Államvasutak Gépgyára in 1890. The railcar was built by Studénka in 1979. Many of these cars remain in use in Hungary working unglamorous slow-speed services on lines that would have been closed in other countries. It is an experience to spend an hour or 90 minutes in one of these on jointed track.
