British Rail stores unit 023 Gatwick Sidings

Stores unit 022 and 023 comprised pairs of 2HAL (class 402) motor coaches and were used to transfer rolling stock components between depots. They ran to a fixed timetable, except on a day like 28 January 1984 when 023 failed and was moved into Gatwick Airport sidings, where it is seen two days later on 30 January 1984. The 2HALs were built in 1938 at Eastleigh Works on frames built at Lancing.
