Gall bladder operations
Gallbladder operations are commonly undertaken in private hospitals, normally by a general surgeon who specialises in dealing with gall bladder problems. The gall bladder or cholecyst is a pear-shaped organ that stores about 50 ml of bile, which is released when food containing fat enters the digestive tract. The bile, produced in the liver, emulsifies fats and neutralises acids in partly digested food.
