PBWA Harrow on the Hill
The Head Master’s is situated on the High Street, in the heart of the School, with far-reaching views of central London. It is the oldest of Harrow’s 12 Boarding Houses, with a history dating back to the mid 1600s. Except for one short period, the building has always comprised the Head Master's family residence as well as The Head Master's Boarding House.
Among the House’s many distinguished former members have been British Prime Ministers Sir Winston Churchill and Sir Stanley Baldwin,
1840-45, by Decimus Burton. Large. Red brick. Neo tudor. Main block has 7 timber casement windows. Three-storeys. Central stucco projecting porch with 4-centred door and lion crest over. Parapet with central gable and Dutch gables to 2nd and 6th windows from left. Projecting brick banding under first-storey
windows and parapet. Recessed wing to left of one window and another beyond it. All windows in wings with drip moulds and mullion and transom casements. Parapet. Slate roof.
