Lay My Burdens Down by RareBreed (Los Angeles, CA) Vol.2

Anaheim Mixtape Vol. 2 features RareBreed from Los Angeles, CA with his single Lay My Burdens Down.

"We want to thank Club Judah in Los Angeles for featuring our good friend RareBreed on our Anaheim Mixtape Vol.2. We are sponsored in part by Pastor Collete Cruz and Club Judah.

RareBreed is a good friend of mine. We have been around each other the last few years throughout the Los Angeles area. I have watched him as he is deeply involved in the community. Anytime there is a gang killing, RareBreed is their with his Southern California Ceasefire Committee to show support to the families that lost loved ones and to make sure that the violence does not increase by the situation. I have been honored to work with the Southern California Ceasefire Committee at Peace events and Police brutality community meetings. I have also worked at Magic Johnson Park along with the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department assisting the Ceasefire Committee to bring a peace treaty between rival gangs (Bloods and Crips).

My good friend RareBreed just lost his dear friend and mentor to gang violence a few weeks ago. We are honored to have Rarebreed on our Vol.2 and we recognize the work that he is doing throughout the community. I pray that this message get's back to you. The S.O.G. Crew is here to work in the trenches with you and we are also here if you need a friend to chop it up with. It's time for the Gospel Hip Hop community to be aware of soldiers like you. Thank you for your integrity and thanks for inspiring me with your testimony. I support you all the way my brother." - Dr. Robert "Battle Ax" Ornelas from The S.O.G. Crew

Jaime “RareBreed“ Gregory is a man who leans on the masculine side of God's word, believing that tough love is necessary, in the balance of nurturing things surrounded in so much false perception. Because he is no longer part of the problem he doesn’t mind being identified by his gospel rap name or his birth name. Though quiet, he is outspoken when his passion arises and he feels he needs to be heard, hence, the reason he ministers through rap. His soft tone that has blessed many microphones, can also be heard in the community with Southern California Ceasefire Committee, where he serves as one of the executive board members, taking on a host of responsibilities networking with many other activists, community leaders, government and law enforcement agencies. He tries to help fix what he helped break.

RareBreed is very active in the community. He participates in Safe Passage for his neighborhood high school to help reduce the violence amongst the youth. He volunteers with his church's, "Boys to Men mentoring group," under Pastor Lafayette Dorsey, at Love And Live Again Ministries where he has spoken and rapped for the Challengers Youth group under Eva J's Touch The World Ministry. RareBreed has marched in many marches frontlining for the community. He has prayed over candlelight vigils of youth senselessly murdered on the streets and rallied from City Hall to Capitol Hill with various groups, joining to make change.

Rarebreed has also graced many stage events such as, The Taste of Soul, the Upfest, United in Peace Movement with Minister Tony Mohammed, Hip Hop Church LA, CaliFest, church events, community events, peace march rallies and Youth Coalition groups on City Hall steps. RareBreed remains humbled by his new beginning and second chance at life after over twelve years of incarceration from two separate incidents.

RareBreed is proving by his actions that there is a chance at redemption. He came to the Ceasefire table offering only a passion to do better and to make music for The Movement. The music given to him comes from the essence of who he is, who he was, and what he has conquered. His music speaks redemption and salvation as it provides an alternative to mainstream music today. He has performed and collaborated with many gospel artist, such as The Club Judah Allstars, Markillo, Unashamed to Put in Work and the legendary Gospel Gangsters.

RareBreed has shown consistency in his change proving that gospel rap is the music for The Movement in this spiritual warfare. Leading by example, RareBreed hopes to awaken others to see our old ways aren't working and that it is time to come full circle in this change.
