Little Spotted Thely
After a short drive from our picnic spot, I spied, from the car, flashes of purple in the bush. When we pulled over and I hopped out, I was delighted to discover scores of orchids! Still getting an I.D. for these Thelymitra sp. (I want to say T. ixioides but they were much smaller than the ones I usually see in my area). Such a pleasant find! [Gardens of Stone, NSW]
EDIT: Identified as the Truncate Sun Orchid (Thelymitra × truncata). According to its Wiki: "It is a natural hybrid between a range of species, including T. pauciflora and T. ixioides."
