Spider-Man Volume 3, Issue #3: Fatal Encounter

Earth 326269

He's after me, and I don't even know why. I was just minding my own business, doing a few errands for mister Stark, when this man started to attack me. Thankfully, I always have my armor on hand, for situations like this. So now, he's chasing me throughout Manhattan. My repulsor beams aren't really doing much, as he's dodging them quite easily, almost as if he can see them coming before I even fire them. He's close, running on the rooftop that's to my right. As I'm so concentrated on avoiding billboard signs, and maneuvering, I don't notice him draw his spear. Seconds later I feel myself spiraling downwards, crashing into the roof of a nearby convenience store.

"Oww.. What do you want from me? Pretty sure I don't know you." But it's of no use, as the man stays silent, staying close to the shadows. Though there's something about his movements that feels familiar. Can't quite place it, but it's there. With one quick movement, he grabs a knife from his holster, and stabs my arm, before rolling out of the way of my repulsor beams. My repulsor ends up hitting him once, which sends him back a few feet. I'm used to fighting against more technology based villains, not this. He seems to be way more experienced than I am, which means this fight won't end well for me. Seconds later, I can feel the knife being plunged into my heart. I feel my strength fading, as the blood oozes out of the newly made hole.

"One down, only thousands more left to hunt.." The man says quietly, as I can clearly see his face for the first time. It's me, only if I were way older. But how is that even possible? There's only one Earth...

The man disappears moments later, before another, dressed in reds and blues, with some sort of spider emblem on his chest, lands on the rooftop, and runs to my side.

"No no no! I was too late.. Who did this to you?" With the little strength I have left, I press the button on my helmet to open my visor.

"The Hunter... C-ome f-r- us.. Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good..." I say with my last breath, sputtering blood all over the rooftop, before collapsing, my life flashing before my eyes. I'm sorry I failed you Tony. I wish I could've been a better hero for you, and the city. Turns out, I was pretty useless after all. You were the uncle I never had. No, the father I never had... I'll never be able to thank you, for all that you've given me, and for that, I'm sorry. There it is, the light, at the end of the tunnel.

Elsewhere in the vast Multiverse

"He's turned on his own." My brother, Daemos says, stating the obvious.

"It was obvious it would happen, though, I didn't give him much of a choice. Our brothers and sisters would've killed him on the spot, but I saw an opportunity. An ally. Better to have him with us, than against us. For now, at least."

"Bora, Brix, and the others are getting restless brother.. Their hunger grows, and soon, they won't be able to contain it."

"Don't worry Daemos. While our Hunter here wasn't supposed to kill the boy, I have faith that he'll bring the rest of them to us. Then, we will have the feast of all feasts.
