DC Universe: Superboy/Supergirl, Issue #2: Trip to LuthorCorp

Just like that, the weekend's gone, and we're back for another week of school. Lucky for those of us in economics, we're going on a field trip to the Leavenworth branch of LuthorCorp for a tour today. It's strange going there though, especially knowing that Lex Luthor used those resources against Clark before he got put behind bars. It's hard to say for certain whether Lena Luthor will go down the same route as her brother or not. As I'm entering the classroom, I notice Alicia and Shane talking by her desk. I walk over to them, and they turn to see me walking towards them.

"Hey Chris, you ready for this tour?"

"Oh you know it Shane. It's not like they run secret experiments or anything.." My voice just reeks of sarcasm as I respond.

"I want to believe that it was all Lex, and that his sister has nothing to do with it. Only time will tell I guess." Probably shouldn't say much more, as I don't need them questioning me on why I have the stance that I do. While Alicia does know of my powers, and me being Superboy, she doesn't know that I grew up on Krypton, or that my cousin is Superman. As for Shane, well, he doesn't know anything about me really besides really basic things like music taste.

"If only I had your optimism Alicia. Guess I shouldn't complain too much though, as we get to skip some school, and I get to hang out with two of my favourite people!" I kiss Alicia on the cheek, and I notice Shane rolling his eyes.

"Plus it's part of our final grade." Alicia's blushing as she talking. She's the best, honestly, how did I get so lucky? Anyway, the morning bell starts ringing, so I go back, and sit down by my desk. The class starts with teacher doing attendance. She goes down the list, with most replying by saying 'here!'. Others just say whatever pops into their head at that point. It comes to my turn, and I just simply say here, before she moves on. Yet again Bryce, Trixie, and Amy are all absent. Normally, I wouldn't think it was that odd, as they are the troublemakers of the class, but they've been absent for a whole month now. It's not just them either, as it seems like more students are missing from class these days. It's probably nothing, right? Just one big coincidence. Shane's the last one to be called, before the classroom phone rings. Our teacher answers, and she lets us know that the buses have arrived. So the class starts filing out of the room, and through the hallways. When we reach the bus, the three of us sit closer to the front of the bus, with me and Alicia on one side, and Shane right across from us. Within minutes, we leave Immaculata, and start driving towards LuthorCorp.

It's hard to concentrate on my conversation with Alicia when everyone else on the bus is so boisterous. I look over at Shane, and he just has ear buds in, listening to music. Alicia notices something's off, and puts her hand on my shoulder.

"Chris, are you okay?"

"I would be if there was an off button to my powers. But everything just gets so loud sometimes, it's hard to keep track of it all." I whisper back to her, making sure absolutely no one around us can hear our conversation.

"Right, sorry. It's hard remembering all of your powers. Maybe try taking your mind off it by focusing on something else?"

"Well that's not your fault, so don't worry about it. Also, I haven't shown you everything I can do."

"Wait what? There's more you haven't shown me? Like what?!"

"Let's see... You know about the flight, strength, my enhanced hearing and how durable I am. What you don't know is that I also have x-ray vision, heat vision, and cold breath."

"So you can see right through things! Wow, and I thought teleporting was really cool" She almost squeals in excitement, but contains herself.

"If I need to, yeah. Don't worry though, I don't ever really use it unless if I'm Superboy. Could easily lead to misunderstandings and all that. Hey, don't settle yourself too short. After all, you have saved a lot of people as Flux."

"Thanks. It's nice being able to talk about this with someone who actually gets it. Most people who find out about my powers don't take it so well, and end up leaving."

"Not even your parents?"

"Oh my parents don't even know. I'm way too scared to tell them, as I know exactly what'll happen if I do. They'll call me a freak, and throw me out." Alicia looks extremely worried about this, so I try my best to comfort her in any way that I can.

"Your parents wouldn't do that. They love you Alicia, and being a metahuman doesn't change the fact you're their daughter. Besides even if that did happen, which it won't, you could always come stay with me, Kara, and my dad."

"Thanks Chris, your support means more than you know. You'll be there with me when I tell them right?"

"If you want me to be there, I'll be there. Even if another supervillain just happens to go on a rampage throughout the city." I say, trying to lighten the mood a little.

"Chris Danvers, I love you." Alicia's smile is so contagious, as it always makes me smile.

"I love you too Alicia." I say giving her a quick kiss, before noticing the bus has stopped moving.

"Looks like we're here."

"Yeah." We all file out of the bus, with our teacher out in front. The LuthorCorp logo is hard to miss with it being plastered on the front of the building. It's like they expect us to forget about everything just because they have a new name and logo, but I won't forget what they've been part of. Well, let's get this over with.
