Lakshmana temple
dedicated to Vishnu, this is the earliest and one of the best preserved of the Kajuraho temples. Note the subsidiary shrines to left and right (there are 4 for this temple, one at each corner of the raised platform terrace). Note also how the roof spires rise in succession from front to back; the tallest spire, or sikhara, is the exterior compliment to the interior's holy shrine or sanctum
