Archwell Defense SMC-45
.45 cal. submachine carbine with integrated grenade launcher.
Standard issue for many police forces and bodyguards around New Haven, the SMC-45 packs a heavy punch while remaining light and controllable. In addition, a grenade launcher has been added for crowd control.
Based off of the Atlas Corporation SN6, many of its internals and externals have striking similarities, but ultimately the SMC-45 has been built to have no part commonality with its parent design, mainly to avoid legal action.
Regardless, the large frame allows a more effective recoil mitigation system - namely the Archwell-KRISS Vector-3 system, which operates in a similar fashion to its predecessors - in addition to guiding some of the recoil down, the remainder is guided forward, countering any backward recoil generated from the powerful .45 ACP round.
The charging handle is a bit unusual, consisting of a retracting G36 handle with an MP5-style locking mechanism. The handle can be extended 90 degrees to the left or right using the corresponding release levers.
However, if the need arises, a simple flick of the switch near the magazine turns it into a muzzle-loaded grenade launcher, firing 30mm grenades with little audio output and high accuracy.
Other features include a 35 round magazine, folding stock, dimpled grips, and adjustable iron sights.
