Royal Navy Frigate HMS Portland just off Dysart

A photo of HMS Portland, a type 23 frigate, which was anchored just off Kirkcaldy until this morning (she has since gone off somewhere else). This was the first major warship in the British Royal Navy to be commanded by a woman; Lieutenant-Commander Sarah West assumed command of HMS Portland on 21 May 2012. HMS Portland spent 2012 at the Royal Naval Dockyard, Rosyth, in a 50-week refit that saw her upgraded with Sonar 2087, new IT systems, Sea Wolf mid-life overhaul, gun replacements, galley refurbishment and accommodation improvements. She left the port of Rosyth on 14 December 2012 for three months of sea trials.

P.S. The frigate is the pointy ship which is painted in battleship grey. The green one is a container-ship. :0)
