Concentric markings in Namurian (Carboniferous) Sandstones

A photo posted for LIBBRIAN (Pammy) who is grieving for her mother who died in March 2012. I know that Pam loves this type of natural rock art and I hope you like this my friend?

BEST VIEWED ON BLACK. For those who are interested in geology, this is called liesegang banding and is formed by mineral-rich ground waters passing through and across the sand layers before they have been cemented into layered sandstones. These rocks are about 320 million years old. This is part of a large rock outcrop and the circular shape in the very centre is approximately eight inches in diameter.
