Jupiter Artlands - Life Mounds by Charles Jencks

Today Mags and I went to visit a superb Art-park known as 'Jupiter Artlands', which is located to the west of Edinburgh, in the grounds of Bonnington House, West Lothian. The park which is owned by Robert and Nicky Wilson, has been open about three years and features works of art by artists such as Charles Jencks, Jim Lambie, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Andy Goldsworthy, Anthony Gormley, Nathan Coley, Cornelia Parker, Laura Ford, Anish Kapoor, Shane Waltener, Henry Castle, Alec Finlay and Marc Quinn (please excuse me if I have missed out any names). This particular metaphysical landscape, is called ‘Life Mounds’ and is the work of the world-renowned artist Charles Jencks. The panoramic view of man-made lakes was taken from the highest ziggurat-like form in the complex. Each pyramid is reached by zigzag paths and the seats / art-forms atop each mound are works of art in their own right! We didn't walk across the path through the centre of the lakes, but this must be fun in its own right!

This park is well worth a visit and at £8.50 full price, £5 concession is a steal for value! The park has a nice cafe and shop and children will be entertained by feeding grass to donkeys, deer and goats.
