Hand-rolling Cigars in Puerto de la Cruz
We saw this craftsman working in one of the shops in the old quarter of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife and just had to buy a cigar to take home as a gift. In Tenerife you can find hand made cigars as a result of the close links that the Canary Islands have maintained with that other one-time Spanish colony, Cuba. Contributing to its population and the development of its agriculture, both in the growing of tobacco and it’s processing, have produced specialists who have passed on their know-how from one generation to another, both in Cuba and Tenerife. The reputation of tobacco from Tenerife is excellent. Locally made cigars and fancy cigarettes are an attractive buy. It’s hard to find them abroad and they make good souvenirs. What is more they are relatively inexpensive.
