The Return of the Shadow
It's that time of year when the shadow of a lamp on the side of the 1700's house called 'The Girnal', falls onto the blue shutter of another old house called 'The Salmon-Fishers' House'. The Salmon-Fishers' House is a little three story structure, which borders a graveyard used between the 16th-19th centuries. The old house was used as a bothy by salmon-fishers, who caught that noble fish out in the Firth of Forth, for about six months of the year. The house has a marriage lintel above the front door, which reads '17 DS HEART (loves) ES 65'. The house was the only one in Pan Ha that wasn't restored by the NTS 'Little Houses in Scotland' Scheme (LHIS) back in 1969. Sadly the renovation of the quaint little house stalled about six years ago and it is in danger of becoming a ruin if the current owner doesn't start basic repairs soon.
