Falkirk Wheel 2005 022

The Falkirk Wheel can lift up to eight canal boats at a time 150 ft (45 m) up in the air to join the other canal section. Prior to this engineering miracle being built in 2000, up to ten locks had to be navigated for the canal boats to reach the higher elevation.
