The View From Our Window
More like the view from our living room through our binoculars, because this is an extreme zoom (about 13 miles / 22 km). In the foreground is Inchkeith Island with its lighthouse and old fortifications. The island was a stronghold from Roman times until recently and was used to quarantine plague victims in the Middle Ages. The hill behind it, Arthurs Seat, is a extinct Carboniferous volcano located in beautiful Holyrood Park, right in the centre of Edinburgh.
