Los Roques de San Pedro, on La Gomera
The Valle de Hermigua is located on the NE coast of the volcanic island of La Gomera, which itself lies to the southwest of the larger Canarian island of Tenerife. This spectacular rock cleft in the volcanic rocks near Los Telares Eco-garden and Folk Museum, is known as Roques de San Pedro (the rocks of St Peter). What a spectacular place to live between those rocky 'teeth'.
The valley was first inhabited by the Guanches the original inhabitants of the island before the arrival of the Spanish settlers. The semi-tropical valley. located just off West Africa, is a very fertile place, although this requires efficient husbanding and water-management of crops and this particular view was taken on a boiling hot day, from the eco-garden, which has many exotic plants in place.
