Sonoran Desert Toad

The Sonoran Desert Toad (Incilius alvarius) is the largest toad that calls Arizona home. They're always a good indication that monsoons are on their way, and typically show up just a few weeks before the summer rains begin. This particular toad is one of several that were seen on a recent trip near Phoenix Arizona that was originally intended as a night to admire the stars. The Planet in the middle of the photo right above the toad is Jupiter looking southwest from the valley at around 10:45 p.m.
