Just a few thousand penguins

King Penguins congregate on Salisbury Plain. South Georgia Island is home to many colonies of Antarctic wildlife because it benefits from the same waters that boost Antarctica's food chain while never receiving the full frozen ground. This is ideal for raising young as eggs can be better incubated and fresh water is more abundant.

 

I took this image while traveling on the National Geographic Endeavor with Linblad Expeditions in 2008. And now I'm enjoying bringing old images back to life with MacPhun software.
