Confluence

At the confluence of the dual Tailrace Tunnels of the Electrical Development Company Hydroelectric Generating Station in Niagara Falls. This tunnel connects with the backside of Niagara Falls, which is approximately 1000ft downstream from where this was taken. Even from this distance, the noise and vibration of the falls can be heard, ceaselessly roaring and shaking the ground. It only gets louder and more ominous the closer you get.

Seeing this tunnel and getting to stand underneath Niagara Falls was a life-defining moment, and something that very few have done, and none will ever do again. Just getting here took months of planning, thousands of dollars of equipment and training along with many risks and grave dangers. The plant is now completely sealed and the tunnel entrance cemented over. We were the last to see it.
