Just Texture (1)
Details from my local well dressing.
Well Dressing is a summer practice based in rural England (most often in Derbyshire and Yorkshire) where the wells are 'dressed' with large plaques containing a picture made up of petals, seeds and leaves etc. The tradition is said to have originated when villagers wanted to give thanks for the purity of their water during the time of the Black Death.
The village where I live has a strong tradition of well dressing and there are always two, sometimes three wells, dressed for Gala Week. This well dressing was based on the signing of Magna Carta. The photo was taken a week after the board was put up so the petals, in particular, have started to fade and curl but I still think the textures are interesting.
See Comment box below for an image of the whole well dressing.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to look at my photo and make a comment or Fave it.
