IMG_9267 Apparent Projectile Hits on a Wall of the Church of Saint Nicholas the Wonder Worker in Gur'evo-Voskresenskoye (1877)
Village Gur'evo-Voskresenskoye, Staritsa Raion, Tver Oblast, Russia
Closed and repurposed in 1939.
The German Army occupied the Tver Oblast from about Oct 1941 to Jan 1942. Many belltowers were destroyed by both sides in this period because of their tactical importance. This church's belltower is missing; perhaps it was destroyed in the war. In any case, the church was apparently hit by projectiles as evidenced by the large patched hole and surrounding plaster spall and the smaller unpatched hole and its spall zone.
