Focus on Health Not on Weight
Focus on Health Not on Weight
This is the first of our lifestyle principles and it's an important one!
Who here has spent a lot of time in the past dieting and/or exercising purely to lose weight? And you may have found that didn't work out too well! This makes the diet and exercise almost like a form of punishment and leads to a mindset of deprivation.
What science has shown us is that most people regain the weight they lose on a short term diet anyway and usually put even more on.
Over the course of these 28 days, we want you to shift your mindset towards focusing on your health, and worrying less about your weight.
That's not to say that weight is not important, but when you focus on your health, weight loss usually happens anyway, along with a host of other benefits such as the increased energy and vitality we are seeking, better sleep, improved digestion and a more positive mood!
As you prepare your meals over the next few weeks, feel good about all the nutrients you are putting into your body. Rather than feeling deprived by what you are missing out on, remind yourself why you are avoiding foods such as biscuits and cakes that lack the nutrients your body needs.
As you do your workouts, don't think about calories burned, think about how much fitter and stronger you are getting. And remember that regular exercise decreases your risk of suffering from many chronic lifestyle diseases.
