Foraging Meadowlark
I was pleased to finally get photos of this bird on the ground. When I go to Shasta Valley Wildlife Area, I'm guaranteed to see meadowlarks, usually singing their hearts out from a tall perch. I have many photos of that. When they're on the ground foraging and the grasses are brown (which they usually are) they are hard to pick out. The greenery out now really helps in this regard. Note also the small blue wildflowers. This is 1,000 feet lower in elevation than where I live, but wildflowers will soon be out in the mountains! The bird is foraging for seeds and bugs.
